A Clinical Study of Inpatients Refereed for Psychiatric Consultation

Abstract

This study was done at the Seoul Red Cross Hospital during the period from January lst, 1990 to December 31st , 1992 Through the review of consultation papers and charts of inpatients who were referred for psychiatric consultation. Author
analyzed
consultation rate, sex ratio, and psychiatric diagnoses.
@ES The summary of results were as follows.
@EN 1) The overall psychiatric consultation rate was 2.0% and the rate in the medical parts was greater than in the surgical parts.
2) The ratio of male and female was 1: 1.4, and age distribution was heavily concentrated(22%) above 60 years of age.
3) The majority among the referrals came from the department of internal medicine(57.7%).
4) As to the psychiatric diagnosis, depressive disorder was the most frequent impression given by consultants(37.1%).
